Cleansing Your Pallet

Palate cleansers are used to remove food residuals in your mouth and neutralize your taste buds. Cleansing your palate between entree bites, food courses or beverage sips may enhance your culinary experience by eliminating competing flavors. Water is commonly used as a palate cleanser.

How/What do you use to cleanse your pallet after finishing a book, film, painting or drawing. How do you reset so your newest work or interest gets your full attention?

If you read multiple novels by a certain author and finish them. Do you read something else before you start reading a series by another author so the previous author's style or concepts don't bleed into your interpetation of the new author?

Do you write or paint out of style from time to time to give your creativity a fresh expression?

What other pallet cleansing do you do in life that has nothing to do with food?

I like to read reviews of media I've injested, and after I've read enough to understand why I have strong opinions, share them & discuss them.

When I watch a scifi movie series I tend to watch a few dramas or some horror before I start a new scifi movie series.

When I was drawing and painting I would take some time to build a shelf or do a model between my paintings.

When I was reading dead wood I would take a break after each author to read some newspapers or trade magazines.

When I read Saberhagen's Swords novels, I tried to read the Berserker series without a break and it affected how I interpeted the Berserker novels. Returning to the Berserker novels after a period of time away from the author opened much more to me than the first time with the swords novels fresh in my head.

I've noticed this trend in many aspects of my life recently. From dating to recreational activities. I'm just wondering if anyone else makes an effort to do it?

I go for a long walk, reflect on the story, and sit at a location that lets me sort of decompress..

i often find myself smiling the whole time...

it's quite common for me to go a week or so between starting a new book or story, but this is pretty common practice for the immediate finishing of a book.

Process the info. each time i finish a book, i feel like i raise a magical sword and feel alive.

Pallet cleansing? I will grab my electric guitar or my keyboard and jam out. Some books I have read get pretty heavy so I have to cleanse quite often!:D:cool:;)
