Far Too Long

Good for Sydney... she's standing up for herself.

As much as love a Syd/Vaughn pairing, Vaughn needs to realize that he has hurt Sydney.. and needs to regain her trust. And declaring that's he's getting a divorce is not 100% getting her trust (and love) back.

Great chapter. Thanks for the pm. Can't wait to see what happens next.

That was great ... aww poor Syd at least she is remembering the good times as well as the bad ... glad she didnt give into him ... he kinda deserved that (ok so he really deserved that)

Sydney is finally thinking straight. Before she's going to believe he's really getting a divorce had better have tangible proof that he's serious. I agree with her, Michael better not come back until the divorce papers have been signed and filed.

Thanks for the PM.

Chris

First: Thanks for the update!

WOW in some way it's good that Sydney is pushing him away... but then again, it's Sydney and Vaughn and I don't like them seeing apart

Is Michael really going to sign those divorce papers though? If he doesn't, I'm gonna go kick is a** :angelic:

okay, so it's been a really long time, I know, and I could apologize but well, life got in the way with university being very stressful and my muse went on vacation, only leaving me ideas for my other fics and yeah, that's the way it is.

And there's another thing, after this chapter I'm gonna put this fic on a hiatus of at least five weeks. I have exams and absolutely no time to deal with figuring that fic out, sorry, but as soon as I'm finished with this semester, I will get back to it, and I will finish it, I promise, so please don't give up on this fic and me

Chapter 16

As soon as she had closed the door, she leaned against it and let herself slide to the ground. She could already feel the tears welling up on her eyes again and she buried her head in her hands, hoping that would stop them. She didn’t want to cry anymore but she didn’t seem able to stop.

Why couldn’t he just leave her alone? She had broken up with him and still he showed up here, telling her he would get a divorce. Yeah, right. As if she would believe that. Though that probably was what Michael had thought she would do. But she wouldn’t. Never again would she bring herself in this situation again.

She was angry, but unfortunately her anger didn’t keep it from hurting. From hurting badly. She wanted to get over him, wanted to forget.

A few minutes later, she decided she had sat crying on the floor for long enough. At least she could get up and continue crying while sitting on something more comfortable. Angrily, she wiped her face dry and pulled herself up in a standing position.

To her delight, there was still some alcohol left from the night before. Getting drunk wasn’t the best idea, she knew that, but she really felt the need to get drunk again. Even if she had to do it alone. At this moment everything seemed better than staying sober and thinking about Michael and what had happened.

Half an hour later, Sydney was considerable drunk but not feeling any better. Giving the clock a quick glance, she decided that it wasn’t really time to go to bed yet, but she also didn’t want to sit alone on her couch being miserable anymore.

When the idea hit her, she didn’t have to think about it long. Maybe it wasn’t the best idea, but definitely the worst either. Therefore, she reached over to her table and grabbed the phone. She stopped for a moment to give it a second thought and then dialed the number.

After a few moments, he picked up, “Hello?”

“Hey, it’s me, Sydney.” She replied, hoping she wasn’t interrupting anything.

“How are you?” He asked, sounding a bit concerned.

“I’m okay, I guess,” Sydney answered vaguely, “Are you busy right now?”

“Not really, why?” Scott asked.

“Well, wanna come over and get a little drunk again?” Sydney laughed lightly, hoping he wasn’t still hangover from yesterday.

She heard Scott chuckle in return and knew he would say yes. “Be there in half an hour.” He said and then ended the phone call.

Sydney laid the telephone back on the table, a smile on her face. She was happy that she wouldn’t have to spend the evening alone. While she enjoyed being on her own, there were times when she truly wanted, and needed, company. And today was one of these days. She had too much on her mind and desperately needed distraction.

Therefore it was good to have friends she could count on. Exactly half an hour later, she heard the bell and quickly got up to open the door. In front of her stood Scott, holding up a bag with what she assumed was food.

“I though when we drink, we should also eat.” He grinned at her and walked into the apartment.

Sydney closed the door and followed him, “Sounds like a plan.”

He looked around her living room, seeing the alcohol from last night still standing there. “I see you already started without me.”

“Yeah,” Sydney nodded lightly, “I got a little visit from Michael and I could use it.”

He gave her smile, saying that he understood that, “Do you wanna talk about it?”

“No really,” Sydney shook her head, “How about watching a movie an drinking, I just want to forget about it at the moment.”

“Fine with me,” Scott shrugged and gave her a smile, “So, what do you have?”

Sydney laughed when she thought about all the love movies she had at home, and only those. That would be a horrible night for him. Well, she would make to up to him later, one day she would watch one of these stupid action movies guys loved to watch and then they would be even.

“I’m fearing the worst.” Scott grimaced and put on a horrified look.

“Well,” Sydney started, “What do you think of ‘Bridget Jones’? It’s not that bad, and it’s funny.”

“Sure, I have enough alcohol to survive this.” He held up one of the bottles and laughed.

“Oh, poor boy,” Sydney nudged his side and smirked at him.

He pointed a finger at her and said, “Hey, watch it,”

Sydney walked to the recorder, got the dvd and then put it in. Walking back to the couch, she held up her hands, “Don’t worry, I’ll behave from now on.”

They watched most of the movie in silence, only talking from time to time about a scene of laughed, and Sydney felt comfortable and more relaxed then before. Sure, the alcohol she kept drinking might have been a reason too, but mostly she considered Scott to be the reason for her feeling a bit better.

“So, lived through the movie?” Sydney looked at him and chuckled.

“It was hard but I managed,” He replied and stuck out her tongue at him.

Sydney rolled her eyes at him, “Very mature.”

“I know,” He grinned.

She watched him for a moment, being happy that he was here. It felt good spending time with him, he was great friend. Because not everyone would come if you called them, asking them to get drunk with you. But the most important thing was that she didn’t feel miserable when he was with her. He was always able to take of her mind.

“You okay?” Scott asked, wondering why she was staring at him.

Being silent for another moment, she made a quick decision. She leaned forward and pressed her lips on his and then pulled away, looking for his reaction.

He just stared at her in confusion, “Syd…” But she leaned forward and kissed him again, effectively silencing him. This time it lasted a little longer before she pulled away again.

“Don’t.” She just said before she kissed him again, and this time he responded to it. A few minutes later she got up and pulled him with her.

I do realize that's a mean place to leave it but I figured you'd all like an update after two months, so yeah, please review and stick with me.

Even though I'm a huge Vaughn fan normally, in this fic I'd say, "Way to go Syd, you're picking the right guy!" Scott is great and I hope Sydney hooks up with him permanently.
