Monster Trucks (2016)

You know, sometimes you come across a movie and you just don't quite know how to describe it. Monster Trucks, coming in 2017, is one of those movies. To understand what I mean just... just watch the official trailer. :o_O:

Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp (Lucas Till), a high school senior, builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town and a most unlikely friend.

The movie is being released by Paramount. It was originally scheduled to be released in 2015. The January, 2017, release date is now its 4th scheduled date. The exact date? Friday the 13th. Viacom, the parent company of Paramount, has already announced financials expectations of a $115 million dollar loss as a result of this movie.

How could such a disaster happen?

Adam Goodman, then president of Paramount, good the idea from his 4-year-old son. Let's repeat that... the movie idea came from his 4-year-old son. Initially the plan was an animated project that could be used to spawn a toy line and other merchandise but incredibly it ended up being made as a live-action film. Monster Trucks is officially under the Paramount Animation branch because of where it started. Suffice to say, Goodman is no longer with Paramount. Bob Bacon, in charge of Paramount Animation at the time, is also gone.

Who knows... maybe kids will love it and it'll surprise everybody.
