Animation The Simpsons parody original Star Trek ending credits...

Last night's episode ended with a Star Trek parody in the last coupe minutes and then the ending credits were brilliant- it played the music at the ending of classic Star Trek (the Original Series) and the still pictures were a mix of Original Trek and some newer ones as well-

I'm not sure if it is the actual episode title, but it's from the "Spock's Brain" episode of TOS where Spock's brain is stolen.

Yep, that is Harry Mudd.

Mr. Burns as the weird looking alien that was the final still in the credits.
It's an alien used only in one episode of TOS, The Corbomite Maneuver. It's the episode where the villain is revealed to be an alien that at the end actually resembles a creepy looking human baby and he used the image of a different alien when dealing with the Enterprise crew.

I had a chance to watch the full episode, S26:10 "The Man Who Came to Be Dinner", and it turns out it is an interesting episode for more than just the Star Trek parody closing credits.

The episode was originally planned on being broadcast back in 2013 as the finale of season 24. Instead, the Simpsons producers, Al Jean and James Brooks, decided that the story of the Simpsons family being abducted by aliens Kang & Kodos and taken back their home world of Rigel 7, would make for a good movie sequel to the original 2007 Simpsons movie!

“Two of the allures were exploring the rules of the new world and the cinematic nature of doing something in space,” says Jean. “But then we were worried that people might think it’s an idea that’s not canonical—it doesn’t really happen, unlike all of other 560 episodes that really ‘happened’—so the ultimate decision was to air it as an episode,” Jean explains. “It just got to the point where if we were unsure about it as a movie, then it would be good to air the episode. And then if we do a movie, we’d just think of something else…. So if you want to know what was thought of a possible Simpsons Movie 2, we just aired it—for free. You can see it for free!”

So not only was an alien abduction close to being the next movie, the episode was finally aired as planned as a normal episode so it is considered to be canon. Usually the weirder tales told on the Simpsons are done as Halloween "Tree House of Horrors" episodes but, nope, in the Simpsons universe they family are now officially alien abductees and have flown in space.
