Collectibles What Did You Collect Today?

Tom

An Old Friend
Some of us are avid collectors. We not only seek out our passion but revel when we get something new.
Depending on how compulsive we are about our habits, even a small tidbit of it can make us excited.

With the holidays upon us once more, what do you hope to add to your collection? Did you buy it, find it or was it a gift from someone that understands your collection and the passion you feel?

Do you go flea market hunting and yard sale browsing in search of your latest find or do you just browse and notice a new acquisition?

Do you collect anything under the title or specific examples of it.
Example: Collecting anything related to Star Wars and the Star Wars Logo vs only collecting Star Wars ships or Star Wars action figures.

Do you collect images of your collection's focus or only specific artworks signed and framed?

How do you keep your collection:
1. Do you have a special room or wall dedicated?
2. Do you build custom display shelves or buy custom display cases?
3. Do you keep your collection in boxes or closets?
4. Do you have your collectibles appraised and logged to a ledger?
5. Have you ever modded a normal device to reflect your collection? ie: computer mod, phone mod, etc...

To you, What is the most important item in your collection?
What item do you not have that could surpass your most important item?
What is the least important item you have in your collection?
If faced with a down-sizing, which item would be the first to go.

How detailed are your collection records?
Do you record all the details concerning your acquisition, photograph the item and keep a scrapbook on the collection? Do you just get it, set it and admire it?

Does your collection invade other places in your life?
Do you have collectibles in your vehicle, workplace or hunting cabin?

It doesn't matter what you collect, if it makes you joyful.

Currently collecting those Bobble head things, have about three boxed as am moving house. Just about to drop some cash on a couple more (y)

This'll sound a little weird, but I collect SPAM. Not spam, the junk emails, but SPAM, the meat product.

Since it doesn't really go bad, SPAM makes a good collectible. I have cans of bacon SPAM, turkey SPAM, limited-edition cheese SPAM, 75th-anniversary SPAM (only available in 2012), Hawaii SPAM (only available in Hawaii), Japanese SPAM, SPAM from the '80s, and a lot of other varieties. I've been collecting it since high school.

I also have a lot of SPAM merchandise, including a SPAM Hotwheels car, a Team Spam bowling shirt, and a large, foam hat that looks like a can of SPAM.

I love SPAM's sense of humor. They know their product isn't exactly the fanciest food product and make a lot of jokes about it.

Hawaii SPAM (only available in Hawaii),
Now you've got me curious... how is Hawaii Spam different from regular Spam?

I knew Spam was a big thing in HI, due to WWII rationing, and when Mrs. Kevin & I were out there you can find local places serving it (like Spam Loco Moco) but I didn't know about a local variant of it.

We have an extra bedroom that I use as an office & collectible area. It's where I keep all of my sci-fi stuff and misc. other things that wouldn't look right in the rest of the house.

Essentially I collect anything that catches my attention, the more unusual the better.

Have any of them escaped yet?

They say when you stop having fun, you get old. I have a nice Star Wars collection, 2 Eagle model kits, 1 in its box and 1 I built. 1 metal Dinky eagle, its pretty cool the landing gear are spring loaded, I have a moon base alpha still in the box. 2 enterprises, desk size, nice and small. 1 retro fit, (the aztecing decals took forever, I can imagine the huge retro fit enterprise would take a decade!) I have the original desk size enterprise done in the grey color. All kits are sprayed dull clear coat to save the decals and the finish. 1 Dan post Vader helmet, I keep it polished and shiny. I am trying to find a cheap Cylon centurian helmet, finished in chrome that can fit on your head. I saw a kit many years ago, but I'm still looking........

I had a Gym teacher in Chicago that had a rotten temper! Funny thing is, that "nice" guy taught drivers ed, {strange}, the dude disliked me, for what I don't know, maybe because I was southern?, He made dang sure I failed drivers ed. Haaa, I passed in Texas, ive Drag raced, Raced 500cc moto-cross, and soloed an airplane multiple times and had 43 hrs dual cross country, and survived spin training, I reckon I showed him. What a chump!:ROFLMAO:
