Sci-Fi Almost Human

We haven't got an airdate in the UK for this yet (I don't think it's been picked up by any channel) but I hope it does come over, since I REALLY REALLY want to watch it but it airs in the US on November 4th on FOX.

Karl Urban stars (yes, you read that right, KARL URBAN!!!) in this science-fiction/cop drama. The show is set 35 years in the future when humans in the Los Angeles Police Department are paired up with life-like androids, as a detective who has a dislike for robots ends up being teamed up with one with emotional feelings.

It looks awesome!

I'm surprised we haven't talked about Almost Human yet.

Almost Human was created by J.H. Wyman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams. The leading actor Karl Urban (Dredd) as detective John Kennex, and Michael Ealy (Underworld: Awakening) as his ‘synthetic’ partner with a soul Dorian. The show airs on Mondays at 8/7c on FOX in the US.

The basic premise of the show is very similar to the I, Robot film with Will Smith -- In the future a detective in an urban location has a dislike for robots which have become common place in our society but comes to accept them after forming a bond with one particular unit. The lead characters, besides both being detectives with similar traits, share a physical similarity as well in that they both have a limb that was lost and replaced with a modern day prosthetic that offers advantages of their original.

The show isn't bad and has had some interesting moments. Some of the episodes have been a bit formulaic while others had my attention.

I've enjoyed this show myself (there have been a few episodes that were duds, but overall...), but fear that yet again, Fox is going to kill a sci-fi show before it gains traction.

Like it. Easy to watch with plenty of action. Also, like Person of Interest, it can appeal to the general audience looking for something exciting - Of course it is more far-out then POI which is only science fiction becuase of the hypothetical super computer. Now, how about that new show 'Intelligence' with the chip in the brain wired to the web - like that one too, like POI it is near future science fiction that is rapidly becoming real science.

No second season for Almost Human, Fox has cancelled it. I was actually liking this one and, after the season finale, was curious as to what exactly life was like 'over the wall'.

Too bad - it was a good series. Any chance Sci-Fi or CW will pick it up? Have you seen The Tomorrow People? It plays here {Las Vegas} on CW antenna TV and also on cable.

Some bad news.... The Tomorrow People has also been canceled. I can't see anybody else picking Almost Human up because it was relatively expense and JJ Abrams has moved on to Star Wars VII.

Just when I was getting to think the human mind was evolving maybe I should think again. What do they like in fantasy/sci-fi vampires, horror stories and adult fairy tales? Where the heck is the future?

How about POI {'Person of Interest'} and 'Intelligence'? Tell me they are cancelling those series too and I will return to the home planet and report: no intelligent life on Earth - avoid contact, species is obsessed with vampires and horror!

Man, with so many of my favorites getting canceled, I might have PLENTY of time to write instead of watching my DVR shows...

I do worry about Intelligence not being renewed...
